Tangs is a surefire contributor to the team at all times. Yeah, he may not shoot enough but if you notice how he elevates the play of everyone around him in addition to be the best all rounder after Iggy. Losing Tangs will be a bad move by Sutter. Tanguay's cap hit next season is $5.25 million, which would help Sutter sign Phaneuf and/or Huselius, and there would be no obligation to Ryder beyond this season.

Trading Tanguay right now makes no sense to me. He can anchor the 2nd line and give us the secondary scoring we need so badly. The problem is, he needs a sniper. Hell, all he needs is a guy who need only be capable of putting the puck in a back of an empty net, and said guy would have 30 goals on a full year of playing with Alex (and Alex's stats would be much better than they are). Nolan or Moss should be that guy, but I'm so tired of watching them miss empty nets.
I'm not a huge Tanguay fan, and I think he does turn the puck over too much for my liking. But as noted, he's become a very good PKer, and he's still excellent at setting guys up. I think Sutter, by getting Cujo, thinks we can make a run at the cup. As such, we have to keep Tanguay and get him a guy to play with. Ryder could be that guy, but you can't trade Tanguay for Ryder. Then who does Ryder play with? Lombardi? Conroy? With the year Ryder is having that's not gonna strike fear in any team's heart. I think a more likely move, if we are in a win-now (or go deep) mode is Lombo or spare chunks + pick/prospect for a currently devalued big winger like Ryder or even a Kyle Calder type. Hell, bring back Anson Carter, and I bet he could pot some with Tangs' set up.
While it's true we can get more return on Tangs now rather than waiting for the off-season, I really think management wants to strike now. Thus you gotta keep Tanguay for the post-season (should we make it). Then, if Juice and Langkow show up in the playoffs we can then worry about who we want to keep/retain over the summer.

I should also say that trading Tanguay without Juice under contract is troubling. If we trade Tanguay now, and lose Juice to UFA money, who becomes our #1 LW next year? True we could find someone from FA, but would they provide as much value? Particularly when you consider Tanguay would light it up if put back with Iggy.
But, if there's any possibility of getting another premiere player under contract (oh, I'm looking at you Olli) back for Tanguay + spare parts, I'd do it. But I can't see any team that would bite for kind of guy we need.
